JUL pig

OK, so my camera is SOOO bad and I have been blogging about it forever, but I still have the need to post some jule time happenings here on the farm. My version of the marzipan pig is now available in my Etsy store, made from retro norsk Christmas tree skirts. I'm making them as fast as I can... Any photo buffs out there want to suggest a new camera for me to put on my Christmas wish list? I want a good one!

Here are some other additions to the store:

New Hens

I just had to post my two new hens that are so faithfully laying eggs. We only have about 6 hours of daylight now, not prime laying conditions, but still going strong!
And of course, Donkey in all her winter fluff!

Thanksgiving

If there is one day I love it is Thanksgiving! I love the time of year, the food, the friends, but best of all it is almost like Christmas, but without the gifts. Seems like you get to invest more time in the friends and food part ;) This year we held two thanksgiving dinners, cus all of our friends couldn't make it at once. Yesterday was SO much fun! Barbara came up from Stavanger Friday night, and we started getting some food ready, then Saturday Barb, Lilly and I went to a craft fair at the local school. We had fun eating cake and people watching. We even sold a few animals! Andreas and his brother were home when we go home, and he had the house all clean! We started making food and setting the table. It was fantastic! Sweet potato's (made with the farms 1st egg), stewed apples, stuffing, turkey, mashed potato's, pumpkin pie and of course grandmas homemade noodles. The food was divine and the friendship was better, I can hardly wait until next year! Lucky for us we get to eat leftovers now for two weeks!!!!!

I MADE THE FRONT PAGE!!!!!!!!! JIPPI!!!!!

Oh Deer!

We woke up to a fantastic winter wonderland outside today! It is so beautiful and Lilly is just thrilled to the bone! She can't stop running over to the window and says "se" "se" ! The horses were feeling frisky in the snow too. Donkey loves to eat it! The chickens are not so thrilled, they are hanging out in the barn while Henry has been sitting on my front step all morning. It is Kitty's first snow and she has been doing really good outside. Bingo on the other hand enjoys the snow from the inside out. Oh, and the deer!

OUCH!

I have been sewing all evening trying to get my stock restocked for this weekends craft fair... I think the sewing gods are against me today as my sewing machine was the first to give me trouble... SO, I moved downstairs to my stuff and sew station... Now 6 critters later my poor index finger is quite sore, and I am too stubborn to get a thimble... It was made better though as there was a fantastic article on Etsy about Scandinavian artists ;)
And sorry, camera still dead. No pics of newly created critters...

EGG!

TODAY WAS THE DAY! I went out to the barn to feed the horses this morning and there it was!!!! An EGG! Just nestled in the hay bail. So pretty and white. I am so proud! I had to take drastic measures as my chicks where growing up to be just pretty and not pretty useful. My neighbour kindly gave me two champion egg layers Wednesday. I was not expecting them to get excited about there new crib for awhile and had no idea they would start so soon. So, we are in business, now I just have to get cracking and make some egg treats for my neighbours who kindly listen to my rooster quartet every morning! YEA! EGGS!

Cinder girl

The funniest story played out at the farm today! Lilly was sweeping the floors with her new found favorite toy; the dust pan and I had to take her pic cus it was just too cute seeing her try to maneuver the long broom around. So off she was "cleaning" the house. Later we took a walk with the pony and Lilly was in the backpack. We trained the the pony and started to walk home when I realized that Lilly's golden shoe was laying in the middle of the road... I stuffed the shoe in my pocket and we started home again. On the way home I started thinking about my little cinder girl missing her shoe, and we (the pony, Lilly and I) had to hurry home to make dinner for the man of the house... Do you think Cinderella made tikka masala for dinner? So cool to live out your fairytail!
